MEDICARE PART A
PART A COSTS
You usually don’t pay a monthly premium for Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) coverage if you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working. This is sometimes called “premium-free Part A.” If you did not pay Medicare Taxes for at least 40 quarters, you will have to pay for some or all of the Part A premium. But, most people get premium-free Part A. You can get premium-free Part A at 65 if:
- You already get retirement benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board.
- You’re eligible to get Social Security or Railroad benefits but haven’t filed for them yet.
- You or your spouse had Medicare-covered government employment.
If you’re under 65, you can get premium-free Part A if:
- You got Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board disability benefits for 24 months.
- You have End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and meet certain requirements.

“Even though I have been in the health field since 1973 as a nurse I knew nothing about finding the right Medicare Advangage plan for myself on retirement, I spent a very informative meeting with one of your agents who answered my questions, concerns and helped me pick the right plan for myself. I will be recommending this company to everyone I can!”

“Uncle Danny is so surprised and relieved about the maximum out of pocket expense. His friend who was in the same nursing home is getting bills for thousands of dollars. So I called him and told him to check his expenses so far this year. He is hopeful. Who would have thought that when we met, years ago. Your knowledge would have such far reaching effects.”
